The Karen Wilkerson Family Fund

Karen Wilkerson, wife to Gerald and mother to Victoria, age13, and Donovan, age 8, passed away on October 23 after battling cancer. Along with the great title of wife and mom, Karen worked as a director in Abilene Christian University’s Talent Search program overseeing Upward Bound. In this role, Karen mentored hundreds of local high school students who come from low-income households to be first in their families to attend college.

While we can’t take away the pain and grieving from Gerald and his family, we can help to ease some of their financial burdens.  As many know, Gerald is self-employed owner of a barbershop. Since May, Gerald has been by his wife’s side assisting in her fight. As a result, he has taken a tremendous loss of income from not being able to perform his barber services, in order to take care of the needs of his family. 

Many have asked about the best way to serve Gerald and his family. I, along with several others of Gerald’s and Karen’s friends, have set up this page to facilitate this request. For some it could mean giving a “haircut” fee and for others, it may be more.  Please know that any amount you can give is appreciated!

All funds raised have been set up for Gerald to have exclusive use to use for the many expenses the Wilkersons have and will continue to incur. We thank you in advance for helping us to surround the Wilkerson family in love.
