Gunners Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Recently our son Gunner who is 7 months old underwent a hospital stay not once but three seperate occasions in the same month of May and a few days in June. He still remains undiagnosed and having issues gaining weight or keeping any food down or in his body generally. His body is making him malnourished and at a failure to thrive status. Doctors and specialists are working on getting him better and improving what he is able to eat and keep down to grow.
My husband and I both work, and we raise 4 children ages 14,11,3,and 7 months. Recently my husband swapped jobs after years at the company and his insurance changed in the middle of our stays. This was a previously talked about change that was good for our family and then Gunner started the hospital visits unexpectedly. This is putting us in a bind as out of pocket cost per individual on insurance A for half of May is $12K and for the remainder of May and June on insurance B is $9K. This also does not include all the copays for specialty doctors ranging from $100-$200 each visit which is typically once or twice a week at the moment , nor does it include 100% coverage of labs so we have bills from $200-$800 a piece with the labs and there are at least 10 in my hand at the moment plus what is going to be done after this post. Bills are piling up while the copays have to be paid weekly at the visits so we are feeling overwhelmed on how much is coming out even though we pay $1400 a month for insurance coverage to begin with.
To make this long story short we need help! We need to cover the cost of his medical bills and procedures and testing until we can figure out what is going on with him exactly. If you would like to donate, we would be really appreciative.
We are looking to raise around $25K to cover the deductibles and help with some of the medical costs that are due upfront. We still have lots of testing to be done to find a solution and we would deeply appreciate any help.
We have always worked hard to provide for our family, and for years have had our own fundraisers to help kids at Christmas and back to school etc and given back to our communities with our nonprofit Raising Compassion we just closed this past year for me to go back to work full time. It’s very different putting our pride to the side to ask for money for us but my son needs to be helped and diagnosed and we still have to keep a roof and food over our other children’s heads We do not qualify for any government help, food stamps, WIC or Medicare so no help but our own paychecks which only allow us to go so far on providing basic needs during this time.
