Hi friends,

After 3 1/2 years of waiting, I have finally been approved for top surgery! I am so excited and grateful.

I am fortunate to live in a state with both paid medical leave and a law mandating insurance coverage of gender affirming care, but because this kind of care is hard to come by in eastern Washington, I will be traveling to the Seattle area in February for the procedure.

Airfare, lodging, food, and incidental expenses aren’t reimbursable. With insurance, I’m still looking at an out-of-pocket cost between $3,500 and $7,000.
