Andrews Journey To Healing

Donation protected
Andrew is an extremely bright kid who has always had a love for sports and music. He has a very soft spot in his heart for those with special needs as well. He made the decision to accept Christ as his personal Lord and Savior in March 2014 and has followed him to the best of his ability since then. Unfortunately, Andrew has had many challenges himself that began earlier in life. He was diagnosed with ADHD, then after a significant change in his life at age 8, was also diagnosed with Adjustment Disorder and Depression . Counseling was immediately started and has continued. As he started middle school still working through these things, he wanted to play sports like any other kid. This was also encouraged by his counselors. Starting Fall 2014 until March of 2017 he sustained 4 documented sports related concussions. These injuries have not gone without long standing effects, which include behavioral changes and inability to learn in a mainstream classroom setting. In the last year he has been diagnosed with ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder). The last few years of constant struggles in school, with peers and at home, along with many poor decisions, led to the need for two hospitalizations in the last twelve months. Needless to say he has really struggled and it has been heart breaking to watch. As we have tried different counseling, changing schools, attempting to homeschool, we have been praying and asking God for direction and guidance. As parents, it is extremely hard to get to the point of knowing your child needs more help than you can give them. We continued to pray believing God would provide the right answer at the right time and He has done that. After looking at other programs and God redirecting us for one reason or another, he clearly led us to Mid-Atlantic Teen Challenge in New Port News Virginia. This ONE YEAR highly disciplined and structured program will allow Andrew to dig deep into Gods word and reestablish that firm foundation of who he is in Christ. He will be surrounded by people who are able to pour truth into him and encourage him, even on his roughest days. Andrew will receive biblical counseling, individual counseling, family therapy, group counseling and attend school in a small setting that will help him thrive. We praise God for this answered prayer after so many years of struggling. Unfortunately insurance does not cover the expense of this absolutely needed program, therefore God is humbling us to ask for help as there is no way we could do it alone. This program is $30,000 so if we are able to raise even a fraction of that, we would be extremely grateful. We just found out Wednesday that he had been accepted and he is leaving THIS MONDAY so not even a week to prepare, plan and try to figure out the financial piece! Yikes!!! If you feel led to donate, thank you but more importantly we ask that you pray for him, for his heart, for healing, for growth, for him to be able to see some success and feel confident in what Gods purpose is for his life. Pray for his brother Evan as this is going to be hard for him as well. Pray for us all as this is one of the hardest but most necessary decisions we have ever made. We love our sweet Andrew and know God has great plans for him at the end of this journey. Thank you and may God bless you. ***If you prefer to give directly to the school in Andrews name that is an option as well.
