Katie's Journey
Donation protected
Hello Friends and Family,
I started this page to be able to share information and updates about my sister Katie Sherar and to reach out to friends and family to hopefully raise funds to offset medical expenses. Katie has severe idiopathic infantile scoliosis. She was diagnosed when she was a toddler. She started with a curve of 35 degrees and has progressed to a 100 degrees. She has been through bracing and casting, and now it is time for her surgery. She is twelve now and has been through a lot in her short life. Katie and my family are getting ready to face our biggest trial yet, a three step surgery. Katie will begin with Halo traction for 4 to 6 weeks. If everything goes well, she will be ready for her first surgery in fusing her spine, with the second a couple weeks later. The doctor feels that this the safer way to do the procedure because of Katie's small size. This is going to be an emotional and financial strain on my family so if anyone would like to help, a donation, no mater how small, will definitely be appreciated. I set up this account with my Aunt Kim and we hope to be able give you updates through my sister's journey.
