Justice for Jemel Roberson
Donation protected
It’s been almost two years since Jemel Roberson’s death at the hands of Midlothian Police Officer Ivan Covey. On November 18, 2018, Jemel was senselessly murdered at Manny’s Blue Room Bar where he worked as an armed security guard. Jemel was a hero that night when a shooter came into the club and shot four people. Jemel sprung into action and took the shooter down. Officer Covey was called to the scene of the shooting and instead of assisting Jemel in apprehending the shooter, Officer Covey shot and killed Jemel. The club patrons survived, including the shooter who later got away. Thankfully no one else died that night because of Jemel’s heroic actions. Jemel's death was ruled a homicide, but we and the city officials know who killed him--Officer Ivan Covey.
Our family continues to struggle in the aftermath of Jemel’s murder and we are forever grateful to the community that stands by us in our fight for justice. We are still battling it out in court because the Midlothian Police Department wants to close the case and move on without consequence or real accountability. We do not know what the future holds but we are steadfast in our determination to see that justice for Jemel prevails!
Jemel Roberson was a hero and we want to uphold his legacy of serving the community. Before his senseless death, Jemel had a desire to work in law enforcement to help serve and protect his community. That same desire has led us to want to create a community organization to honor his legacy. We are in need of your support now while we continue to dedicate our time, energy and resources on getting justice for Jemel.
Can you donate to our cause to establish a foundation in Jemel’s name to help keep his legacy alive?
No amount is too small. Please share Jamel Roberson’s name widely and often. We are forever grateful for your help in getting #JusticeForJemel. We will continue to say Jemel’s name in the fight for justice and accountability!
