Help for 5 families homeless after Oregon fires

Donation protected
We are Richard and Elizabeth Fujas.  We have been proud residents and small business owners in the Rogue Valley for nearly 40 years.  We have had the joy of raising our children here and starting our family business, Rising Sun Farms, in Phoenix, Oregon.

While we are grateful for many things in our company's modest history, we are most proud of our humble, loyal employees whom we fondly call our “can-do crew.”  We are a small, but close-knit family at Rising Sun Farms, and when any of our family members hurt, we all hurt.

In our nearly four decades in southern Oregon, we have never witnessed devastation like that from Almeda Drive Fire that swept through our community earlier this week.  It tore through the towns of Phoenix and Talent, the true heartland between Medford and Ashland, and destroyed more than 600 homes.  Five of those homes belonged to five of our own --  our dear colleagues and close friends,  who sadly lost everything in the Almeda Fire: Miguel Suarez and family, Jose Ramirez and family, Maria Lerma and family, Blanca Ramirez and family, Maria Partida and family.

As a company, we have been helping to purchase food, clothing and other essential supplies for these families.  We have had friends and relatives kindly reach out to see how they could also support, so we have created this fundraising page.   We are grateful for any amount you would like to contribute and will divide the funds among the five families to try to support them as they begin rebuilding their lives.   Anything will help to them get back on their feet.

We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support for our little communities of Phoenix and Talent and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

--------

Miguel Suarez has been with Rising Sun Farms for more than 15 years.  He worked hard to buy his first mobile home, one not covered by insurance, and lost his home, his car and all of his possessions in the fire.

Jose Ramirez and his family have worked with us for more than two years.  Their home is also not insured and they have lost everything.

Maria Lerma and her family have been part of RSF for more than four years. The fire completely destroyed their home and while they have insurance, they still lost everything and are in need of the essentials while they begin the process of rebuilding.

Blanca Ramirez has been an employee for more than six years and is married with two young children.  Her family lost their home and all of their possessions with no insurance to cover the destruction.

Maria Partida is also a long-time employee of RSF, and a single mother of two.  While most of her house is intact, her entire neighborhood was devastated and she is not sure if or when she and her children will be able to return to their home as the area remains without electricity or running water.

This is the aftermath of the fire:
