$5 Sunshine Packages for NYP Children's Hospital

Hi everyone, I’m Victoria! I attend LIM College in NYC and was assigned to create a Random Act of Kindness project that would benefit others, and elevate my philanthropic skills. I have planned to raise money for “Sunshine Packages” that will be hand delivered to New York-Presbyterian: Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital .

NYP’s Children Hospital treats and cares for all children within infant and adolescent ages. Many children are required to stay in the hospital after a diagnosis or procedure for an indeterminable recovery period. To limit the shock of a new environment and slower pace, these packages will help children feel at ease and at home.

“Sunshine Packages” are get-well baskets that contain bright yellow goodies. These particular packages will each include:

·       Reusable Draw String Bag

·       Glow in the Dark Slime

·       Animal Coloring Book and Crayons

·       2 Brain Teaser 3-D Puzzles

·       Emoji Launch Popper

·       2 Smiley Face Pins

·       Post Card

A solution to ill and homesick children, these packages are a simple, effective way to make a significant difference. Hands-on activities and Arts & Crafts will be beneficial in achieving some sort of normalcy.

Each “Sunshine Package” costs just above $5. I am hoping to help raise enough money to create 48 packages (effective for buying in bulk and for this short time frame). Donations are asked to be sent by November 4th, so that there is adequate time to order the goodies, put together the packages, and deliver them on November 11th.

Update: All proceeds exceeding the goal will be used for a second round of Sunshine Packages donated to NYP during the holiday season. 

While each package costs approximately $5, any monetary donation is much appreciated.
