50 Hour Marathon for The Advocacy Center!

VIC Radio is partnering with The Advocacy Center for the 36th Annual 50 Hour Marathon April 21st - April 23rd, 2023! 4 DJs will stay awake and stay on the air for 50 hours straight to raise money for The Advocacy Center!

The Advocacy Center is the only provider of Domestic and Sexual Violence services in Tompkins County, NY. While the agency has grown, expanded services, and adapted to the ever-changing needs of survivors and the community over the years, they remain committed to the core philosophy of providing compassionate, trauma-informed, survivor-focused services and education with roots in feminism and the grassroots battered women’s movement of the 1970s. Today the agency has expanded to provide not only domestic violence services but also services to youth and adult survivors of child sexual abuse, adult sexual assault, and rape. The Advocacy Center continues to work toward a community where all are free from violence in their homes, relationships, and life.

Your donation directly supports the work of the Advocacy Center and survivors in Tompkins County to increase their safety and heal from the abuse they have experienced. The Advocacy Center provides a variety of services for survivors including emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children; meeting emergency safety needs such as lock changes, obtaining a cell phone, or support requesting an order of protection in court; providing emotional support and connection through support groups and therapy services; advocating during post sexual assault exams at Cayuga Medical Center; and prevention education for local Middle & High School Students, College Students, Professionals, and Community Members. Donations help the Advocacy Center provide all direct services to survivors free of charge!

Any local businesses or organizations interested in sponsoring on behalf of their business should contact the 50 Hour Marathon Coordinator. A $25 donation will grant a half-hour sponsorship in the form of two on-air acknowledgments during the Marathon. VIC Radio is Ithaca College's student-run online-only radio station broadcasting at vicradio.org. Featuring the "Best of What's Next" with indie-alternative tracks, VIC also airs specialty shows of all genres including electronic, folk, country, pop, grunge music, and more! Plus, weekly sports talk shows. On the air 24/7/365, VIC can also be heard using the VIC Radio iOS mobile app and TuneIn. In addition to streaming, this year's 50 Hour Marathon will also be broadcast locally on WICB's 91.7 FM, ICTV.org and the City of Ithaca's Educational Cable Access Television Channel (Spectrum 16).
