Our Journey

Following one short migraine, my fiancé Rob was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (the most aggressive form of grade 4 brain tumour).

11 days after diagnosis Rob had brain surgery to remove the mass of the tumour and has since had radiotherapy and his first round of chemotherapy.

The surgeon has given him an average of 7 months to live from now, but we cling on to the 5% chance that he could live 5 (or hopefully more) years.

I have walked 500 miles over just 7 weeks to raise money to help assist our living since losing an income and also toward treatments that are currently not available on the NHS, this consists of dendritic cell vaccinations and a checkpoint inhibitor. These treatments could raise the chance of survival for Rob from 5% to 25%, they are currently available in Germany and will cost us £350,000.

 

Those of you who know us will know that we don’t ask for charity lightly, but working full time, caring for rob full time and being diagnosed myself with multiple sclerosis during lockdown is taking its toll and I’m not sure where else to turn. We all just want him healthy again.
