50-4-50 for Copthall School

For my birthday I've set myself 50 challenges to raise awareness of the lack of funding for schools and to raise £50,000 for Copthall School.  Let me know if you would like a list of my challenges or to join me on any of them! (And please watch the video about about the school funding crisis).

Copthall needs financial help to continue to provide an education that equips our students for the 21st century.  Copthall is a significantly deprived school and  we do not get attention or funds from businesses in central London or from government.  We really need your help!

We are careful with our money but because of the school funding crisis we, like many other schools, are no longer able to save up for new equipment, big maintenance projects or even provide important enrichment activities.  We have an innovative STEM scholarship programme (science technology engineering maths) but woefully inadequate labs for teaching students and only four computers available for our 40 STEM scholars.  We lack covered space outdoors, 21st century tech, science and art equipment, sports equipment, a minibus and many other important items.

If I can raise £50,000, the money will go towards a science lab and science equipment, iPads for assisting students who do not have computers at home and for photographing and recording science projects and presentations, PCs and enrichment activities for STEM, DT equipment, 3 interactive projectors and a hardship fund donation.

We also need money for sixth form enrichment, a library refurb, a camera for A-level photography, an external covered area and seating, computers, iPads and laptops (ours are ancient), outdoor games equipment, staff training and wellbeing and a school minibus.

We are a great school, trying incredibly hard to do the best for our students and we are doing great things - in the last two years Copthall was in the top 3.5% nationally for progress at GCSE and significantly above average progress at A-level.  Copthall students are delightful, enthusiastic and well behaved. The teachers are hard working and dedicated and the Headteacher is inspiring.   With additional funds in a number of areas we could enhance the educational experience for Copthall students to an exceptional level and prepare the girls in many more ways for life and work in the 21st century.

I would be so delighted if you would help.
