50k by Dublin Bay

Between the Dublin marathon and Triathlons, the two of us were supposed to be challenging ourselves with some events this summer, but obviously have been cancelled. So we’ve decided to turn this negative into a positive and instead will be running a socially distanced 50km from Greystones to Howth on Saturday August 29th in aid of Aware.
Aware provides a range of services including mental health information and education as well as a telephone and email support service for those affected by depression and bipolar disorder and they provide all their services free of charge. 85% of their income comes from public donations and fundraisers, which of course has been impacted by Covid.
The two of us share a love for both the sea and exercise, and identify the need for constant mental health awareness and change. But we don’t want this event just to be about raising some funds for a great cause, we want to get as many people as possible involved and raise a bit of awareness too. If either of us learnt anything in our 4 years in Sports Science it’s that exercise can have such positive impact on both an individuals physical and mental health so we’re looking for people to come join us on the day!
Whether it’s a couch to 500m, 5km 10km or marathon, we’d love to see you get involved whether we know you well or don’t know you at all! This page will be used as a platform to share our journey, training advice and a place to talk. Mental health is everything.
