Running 50k for The Armory Foundation

Tax deductible
Join me in making in a difference. I'm raising money to benefit The Armory Foundation, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause.

My Goal: Break the 50k world record! I will be covering the 31-mile distance through a combination of laps around The Armory's indoor track and field facility (where I once broke the indoor marathon record) and outdoor running.

The attempt will be live-streamed by RunnerSpace. The precise time & date will be announced soon!

My Mission:
The events that have taken place over the last 11 months in our world have brought to the forefront the injustices and disadvantages faced by many in underserved communities, and this has only been amplified during this pandemic.

In these trying times, all children deserve a fair shot; however, this doesn’t just happen, it requires action. The actions being put into motion by the Armory Foundation are making a difference. The Armory Foundation is devoted to trying to level the playing field faced by many - including children in the Upper Manhattan neighborhoods of Washington Heights, Harlem, and Inwood - who deserve to feel safe, have a place to learn, and enjoy opportunities to chase their dreams.

Through my record attempt I don’t merely want to break a record; in doing so, I want to shed some light on the good work being done by the Armory Foundation.

Moreover, I what to be the type of strong female role model I wish I had in my life as a young girl.

After my world record attempt I will be shipping out to begin my training as a New York Army National Guard Infantry Officer with the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry regiment.  Infantry Officer is a role only held by a handful of women, and a role that had not been open to women prior to 2016. I’m also slated for a spot to attend the Army’s toughest school and a school formerly open to males only, Army Ranger School.  This school entails testing your ability to effectively lead others on missions while facing grueling mental and physical challenges and enduring extreme environmental conditions, all while only averaging 3.5 hours of sleep per night over the full 63-day duration of the course.

Crucially, The Armory Foundation supports girls in sport and in STEM. (To read about The Armory's CityTrack/Little Feet, Armory College Prep, and other programs, visit www.armory.nyc.)

Please support my run for The Armory Foundation to continue keeping #kidsontrack!
