50-Kilometre Ultramarathon
I’m running a 50-kilometre ultramarathon on December 7th in the Kosciuszko Mountains. I have never even run a 42.2-kilometre marathon, so it should be a challenge—not just the distance but the elevation and altitude. I thought this would be a great opportunity to do some fund-raising for the kids at the children’s village that I visited last month when I was in Africa. When I visited these kids, they were the biggest bundles of joy. I had a great couple of hours playing with them all. I was only there for a short time, but I could see they were happy, which goes to show the results of the hard work of Louise, Monika, and everyone else that runs that whole organization. The foundation is called Tír na nÓg and was founded by Louise Quill from Tralee. Between herself and Monika, they have created a beautiful home for 60+ kids. These guys require funding, as you can imagine, to feed and clothe the kids. Every little bit helps. A little bit of money may go towards getting fertiliser and petrol to help out with their homegrown crops. Clothes for the kids to go to school or money towards getting them some Christmas presents This is probably the most trying time of the year for Louise and Monika, as getting clothes and toys for that many children while running the orphanage is quite challenging. Anything you can give goes a long way for them. See the link below for more information. There is a great cop who gives you a great summary of all the great work Tír na nÓg does.
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of TIR NA NÓG ORPHANAGE CUIDEACHTA FAOI THEORAINN RÃTHAÃOCHTA and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
