In the aftermath of the flooding in Denham Springs, Walker & Baton Rouge, my family lost 10 homes and 8 vehicles. My childhood street was completely underwater. Thus, leaving my family, neighbors & elders homeless.
Growing up in Denham Springs as many know, is where I found my voice as a young girl. The flooded homes above is where I found my voice, felt safe, & learned to be the strong woman I've become. I was devastated to see the home that was not just a foundation for me but for our community underwater.
