Audrey’s battle against cancer

My name is Christina Griggs, I am setting up this go fund me to benefit Audrey Baggs who I met working for Marriott and have known for the last 7 years.
Sometimes you cross paths with someone who will forever change your life. Someone who inspires you, motivates you and builds you up no matter what. For me, Audrey is that person. Audrey is an amazing friend, boss, and most importantly, she is a truly amazing mother. Audrey is a single mother of two incredible kids. Josyln is in 6th grade and excels in her studies, enjoys cooking, started her own babysitting business, and observes everything that is going on in her environment. She is the most responsible 11 year old I have ever met and will someday make an amazing mother just like her own. Cole is in 3rd grade and is a ball of energy. He enjoys playing lacrosse, riding his bike, building forts, socializing, and cuddling up with his mother. Cole is 100% boy and dreams of becoming a police officer or pilot. Throughout their lives Audrey has managed this journey entirely on her own. She is their world! Audrey started working for Marriott as a front desk associate when she was 19 years old. She has dedicated 13 years to Marriott, all of her adult life. She has worked her way up to being the General Manager at a local Courtyard. During Audrey’s tenure with Marriott she has touched many lives, helped people within the company build their own careers, and has been one of Marriott’s biggest advocates.
Around Thanksgiving of 2017, without any warning, Audrey was diagnosed with a very rare form of stage 4 non-small cell metastatic lung cancer at the age of 32. When she was diagnosed her cancer had already spread to her liver, spine, adrenal glands, brain, and bones. In other words, all of her major organs. While waiting for the results of her tumor’s mutation status, she was immediately placed on radiation and chemotherapy. Unfortunately, Audrey’s cancer has a very rare mutation and there is no FDA approved targeted therapy for that particular variant. As you can imagine all of these treatments are extremely expensive.
After completing radiation and 3 months of chemotherapy Audrey has discovered that her cancer has continued to spread rapidly. Throughout this entire ordeal Audrey still has two children who need to be taken care of. School projects, meals, birthday parties, work, it all continues. Recently while at work she suffered a broken femur and required emergency surgery during which a rod was inserted from her hip to her knee. She has also developed complications of her disease and treatment and is currently suffering from a blood clot in one of her lungs. Her Doctors have requested that she transfer her treatment to MD Anderson in Houston where they feel she can receive her best chance at extending her time as a mother to her children.
She needs your help! Even if you don’t know Audrey, I am sure you know someone in your life who has inspired you through their strength and dedication in a similar way. Please consider helping in any way you can, and please share this with your friends and loved ones.
The purpose of the GoFundMe is to help offset Audrey’s mounting financial obligations, treatments, and trip to Houston’s MD Anderson as Audrey does not have long term disability. Audrey’s father, Gregory Baggs who is currently helping Audrey at home and will be traveling with her will be receiving the donation money. For those of you who work at Marriott, PTO donations are also extremely helpful! As I am sure many of you would like to contact Audrey to offer support, Audrey has asked for people to contact either Christina Griggs at [phone redacted] or Kelly Staley at [phone redacted] to help her maintain focus on her family.
God Bless
