Help My Mom Get Back on Her Feet.

Hi, my name is Chelsea. I recently learned my mom has been going through some hardship and have been trying my best to help them out.

I'll let my Mom explain:

"I thought I was on solid ground. I had a mobile home! I planned on living here the rest of my life! How can the landlord of my mobile home park take my home from me and get away with it??? I have worked since I was 15 yrs. old, I've raised 3 children on my own and never asked anything from anyone. Now I am 61 yrs. old and homeless!

My roommate and I just got kicked out of the home that we owned, taken away from us when we did nothing wrong.

We had been getting rental assistance due to COVID-19. Back in April 2023, they stopped the assistance but our landlord didn't tell us this until our back rent ended up around $6,000. After borrowing $3,000 from my daughter, and selling my car for the rest, I managed to pay everything they said we owed. They said I was all paid up through April. May comes, I paid the rent as usual, no problem. Then June comes, I paid the rent and they return it because out of nowhere they said I have a balance of $353 from April for court costs/ legal fees?! I showed them that I paid all of that in April. And, if this was true, why was my May rent accepted, and it shows no balance due in May?? They had no answer! So, because I refused to pay them money I did not owe we end up getting evicted, and they now have my home!! I was told that they want to get rid of all the older mobile homes to put new ones in the park. We did try suing them in a civil suit, showing them proof without any reasonable doubt that we didn't owe that money, but their Lawyer lied and somehow ended up getting the case dismissed! How does that even happen?! We don't even get heard or our day in court?! We are just beside ourselves! This was my home!! We did nothing wrong here! I'm 61, my roommate is 67 and fully disabled and we are now homeless. They just have stolen my home! My roommate needs heart surgery! Where is he going to go after surgery? A motel room? We are paying $450 a week at an extend a suite, how will we be able to find a place to live? They want first and last months rent plus application fees etc ... We are paying $1800 a month for a motel room! To get another mobile home, used, we also would need 4 to 5k for a down pymt. We just don't have that kind of money, we are both seniors on a fixed income. There is more to this also. There is a $450 ref. Security deposit that we never got back when everyone else in the park got theirs a year ago . Everyone, but us. We really got taken by these people and honestly we don't know what we are going to do. My roommate is in the hospital now, because all of this has been too much for him, and he is in critical condition right now.

We are 2 seniors that got our home stolen from us with no where to go now. My children have been helping me out a whole lot, but I don't want that!! I want us to take care of ourselves so my kids can live their own lives! Any help we can get would be so genuinely, and sincerely appreciated. Thank you so much!"

This is Chelsea again. I've been trying my best to help her out but I have my own bills to pay and we just can't get them enough money at once to afford first and last month's rent at an apartment or anything like that. We're just keeping her and her roommate afloat and that's it. If we could just get them INTO a place, they have the income to pay the bills every month. It's just that initial hump that we need to get them over.
