PRIDE is also Sex Worker’s Rights

Support our our participation at Stockholm Pride!

For many years members of our organization have gathered for Pride in Stockholm! We have marched in the parade together with allies, advocated for our rights, participated in panels at the Pride house, organized events and workshops for members and celebrated our diverse communities!

Pride week is a time when we can come together and be empowered together! It is a vital environment for us to strengthen our community; an occasion to gather in person with our members from all over Sweden and beyond. It is also important for us to further strengthen our alliances with the different LGBTQIA+ communities, which many of our members are part of.

It is also historically well-documented how sex workers have been on the front lines of LGBTQIA+ rights struggles globally, yet we have so often been excluded. It is therefore important for us to ensure a safer space during Pride for as many members as possible. 

Since our professions are highly stigmatized in Sweden and we are facing harsh consequences from being outed, we want to work towards establishing a Pride presence that feels good for our members in the future - having a float is part of that!

Walking in the parade without a float results in a lot of people not being able to take part because of the lack of privacy. We decided to start fundraising for next year's float already!

Our organization does not have a budget to spend on making Pride more accessible for sex workers, since we at the moment rely on private donations and do not currently have any funding for the community building and advocacy volunteering work that our organization does.

Apart from the float, we would also like to offer some travel reimbursements to those who do not live near Stockholm, to ensure that it is not only those who can afford it or live in the capital who gets to take part. We would like to use raised funds for materials to make signs, banners, offer non alcoholic drinks & snacks for the parade, organize events for members etc.
