Gene the Young Man

My name is Camelle and I am Gene’s mother. Gene just celebrated his 24th birthday! Gene had aspirations of being an NFL Kicker one day! Gene just graduated from Bowie State University with his undergraduate degree in Communications and was just accepted for Graduate School for his Masters in Organizational Communications! Gene has been a good student and Exceptional Athlete his entire life! He was coaching student athletes from middle school to college level  in football to build the next generation of kickers and volunteering as the kicking coach at his alma mater, Bowie State University where he was a part of a two-peat CIAA Championship Team,  holds many school  records.

 

Gene loves to mentor and believes in volunteerism to help other people. He is  a baptized believer growing up since 5 years old as a member of Fort Washington Baptist Church attending children’s church, Sunday school and the children’s choir.

Gene’s Passions

 

Our Gene is passionate about his family and especially his baby sister Ashley who is in her senior year for her undergraduate degree in Biology as she is Pre-med! He is passionate about bringing people together, creating music,  writing lyrics, he writes poetry, television production, radio production  and loves to support causes that help student athletes . He recognizes the importance of receiving support as a graduate of the Jack & Jill of America, Greater Suburban Maryland Chapter.

 

The Tragedy

The day the earth stood still for us was January 22nd, 2022 at 1:13am when my husband and I received a phone call from our son’s co-worker in Washington. D.C., that he was a victim of multiple gun shot wounds in the back, walking out from his place of business as a Supervisor, and to come quickly. This was like something out of a mistaken identity nightmare!

Gene’s Medical Needs

 

Today, we now know that our son Gene has a T-12 Spinal Chord Injury and has a very long road of recovery ahead of him. The teams of Doctors he needs in neurology, orthopedics, physical therapist, occupational therapist, nurses and not to mention the adaptive changes for medical equipment at our home to create access for a wheelchair and a new normal for him to have a healthy and sustainable quality of life.

Recommended Treatment for Gene

 

The recommended treatment for Gene is a comprehensive approach of intense physical strengthening with a Physical Trainer to build him back up and provide Functional Electrical Stimulation, Trauma Psychiatrist to help with his PTSD and new normal and being able to process the 5 Stages of Grief, Occupational Therapy to learn adaptive new life skills, an intense day camp after his initial 6 weeks rehabilitation specifically geared for Spinal Chord Injury Victims.

 

We will also need to purchase a new handicap accessible vehicle for him for transport and adaptive features. The bills have already started coming in and we will need access to funds pretty soon. This is all very time sensitive for his life. Gene needs to continue therapy as the doctors explained the heart is a muscle as well and the hard impacts of muscle atrophy can be permanent. We are in a race with the clock.

 

Our faith is strong in our body of believers around the world! My husband (Gene Sr.) and I still believe in the good in people! We have prayers coming from legions of people around the world! We have asked All People to pray and help us manifest the following:

Gene Carson II is undergoing a complete healing at an accelerated rate physically, mentally & emotionally. Gene’s full strength is coming through more and more each day. He is talking a mile a minute and is walking and running at full speed. He is laughing with his family and friends. His mental state is strong and vibrant and his mind and cognitive skills are sharp! Gene is filled with the joy of the Lord Jesus Christ!
