Meatball's surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is meatball. I am a 4 month old English bulldog and unfortunately I need to have surgery. I was born with severe congenital defects and my life expectancy will be cut short if I do not have this procedure. My mom noticed a small bump on my stomach when I was only 9 weeks old, and was told it was an umbilical hernia. After further testing, ultrasounds, CT scans, and multiple doctors, we found that it's something even more rare. I was born with no diaphragm, and all of my intestines are up in my heart cavity. I don't have a sternum and will need to have one created. I will need to get grafts and implants to hopefully create all the important pieces I am missing. They also said that my stomach may have shrunk down and if so, all organs that I won't need will have to be removed in order to put everything back where it belongs. I will have to spend 3 days in the hospital with a chest tube and constant monitoring. My mom and dad have done everything they can, and continue to do everything they can, but this surgery is so rare and complex that they cannot afford it. I am scared of the hospital, but I know that if I want to live a long life of chasing the kitties and finding the most amazing stick in the backyard I will have to get this done. If you can help in any way I would appreciate it very much.
