Kelly's Quest to Healing his Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kim, and I am writing to you today on behalf of my brother Kelly in hopes that I can help him in his quest to heal his cancer.
Last July, Kelly contracted COVID-19 and during his recovery, he began to turn yellow. After two emergency stent surgeries, a mass in his pancreas that was pushing against the bile duct was revealed. Upon further testing, he has been diagnosed with a very uncommon and rare cancer called Neuroendocrine.
In October and November, further testing with a CAT and PET scan revealed cancer has spread to his liver and bones. This type of cancer does not respond to chemotherapy, and they are not able to surgically remove the tumor due to its placement. Despite this, Kelly is working with a great team. He is at a crucial point with his treatment. Unfortunately, the treatments are expensive and not covered by insurance.
He has not been able to work for some time, and living expenses, medical bills, and treatments are adding up. We as a family are trying to help out where we can but the financial burden is becoming insurmountable.
Kelly had a life-changing accident 10 years ago. He was pinned under a 1200lb commercial mower. He mustered every ounce of strength and pushed that mower off of him, ripping out his brachial artery from his left arm on the hot exhaust. He made a tourniquet with his belt and had the presence of mind to drive himself to the Portsmouth hospital. He was med-flighted twice to Mass General. After over a dozen blood transfusions, 16 surgeries and extensive rehab, he is a LIVING inspiration for the power of healing. He has tenaciously put himself back together, creating ways to adapt to his left arm and hand limitations as well as chronic nerve pain.
Kelly wants to have more of the opportunity to LIVE; he is not ready to go. He is a warrior. Anyone who knows Kelly knows his love of the outdoors, his great ingenuity, his endless energy, and his passion for life. He loves nature and captures the most beautiful moments with his photography. Kelly loves spending time with his dog Pixie and his partner Denise. He is always a student in life and openly shares his knowledge. He desires to strive, work, love and live for a most salubrious outcome.
This fundraiser will allow Kelly to heal. We are so grateful that he is surrounded by such an amazing support system. Although we cannot take away the burden of having cancer, the pain he goes through every day and the time and energy it takes to go to all his appointments, you can help alleviate Kelly's day-to-day financial stress.
We are humbly reaching out to our community for support in any way that you can help. Your donation will cover Kelly’s medical expenses, living expenses, and other costs related to his treatment that are not covered by insurance. Please know that even the smallest donation can make a huge difference in Kelly’s life, and our family would be forever grateful for any support you can provide.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for considering a donation. We truly appreciate your kindness and generosity.
