2 Month Old Fighting For Life In ICU
Donation protected
2/19/18 My daughter, Cassandra, and Darian had their 2nd child, Kylan, 2 months ago on December 19th. He was born healthy. One minute, welcoming our newest addition & celebrating his life to him getting sick 'out of the blue', & having to go to the local E.R., where they transferred him to an out of town children's hospital. He went down hill quite quickly, so was admitted to the ICU unit right away. Due to a bad, fast moving infection, his organs shut down and became sepsis. Kylan was put on kidney dialysis, heart & lung machines, plus more. The list of complications from that terrible infection is much too long to list, This poor baby has been having blood transfusions, is sedated in order to be paralyzed, etc. He is a very sick baby baby, ...which is every parents nightmare. Our nightmare too! Baby Kylan is fighting for his life, so we are all emotionally distraught, but holding onto our faith & trying to be strong & praying for a miracle. We are in 'emergency mode.' Both parents had worked, but Cassandra was on a non-paid maternity leave. So time's were harder w/ only one income, but managing. But, they were not financially prepared for this quick, life changing event. Just four days into this shocking, terrible & very sad medical situation, it's become quite obvious how costly this is and will become. We've been given the statistics of his chances, but if we're blessed & he pulls through, it's going to be a very long haul; he will be at Children's a long time. There are a lot of unknowns, currently. Out of the area 'hospital living' is very expensive; way too expensive. Plus, Cassandra will not be able to return to work or get any type of job during their son's illness. Darian is returning back to work, tomorrow, but his pay won't cover all involved & needed. I must add, they're 1st child, just turned 3, recently & is back here, which causes stress & more emotional & financial difficulties. Cassandra has been with Kylan constantly, since this started and is in shock and emotionally distraught. And of course, she misses her 3 year old son back here. These parents have way too much to deal with, than to have to worry about finances. No parent should have to think about money when they're watching their baby fight for his life. That's how I feel, anyway. Asking for financial help is so difficult, but I'm seeing the bigger picture, and they truly need this type of assistance during this family emergency. Any monetary donations in their time of need will be of big help and greatly appreciated! Thank you. God bless... Beth
