Support the Walk from Perth to Adelaide

In 2015 I spent 3 months working as a human rights observer in the West Bank as a part of the World Council of Churches Ecumenical Accompanier Program in Palestine/Israel. While in the West Bank I saw that the basic human rights of everyday Palestinians were violated on a daily basis. While the official policy of the Australian government is that peace should be obtained via a two-state solution, little or nothing is ever done to stop the State of Israel from illegally occupying the West Bank and Gaza or increasing the number of illegal settlements in the West Bank. Land is constantly being confiscated from Palestinians by the Israeli State and tens of thousands of house demolitions continue to occur every day. All these violations of International Law only provoke more hostility and mistrust in the minds of Palestinians. Palestinian resistance is completely demonised by our media regardless of its form and that the fact that resistance to Israel’s occupation of Palestine is deemed lawful by the same International Law that both Israel and Australia have signed on to.
My walk is to bring greater awareness to the average person of the injustice of the situation in order to increase the political cost to the State of Israel for its illegal behaviour and to remind the Australian government of its obligations in this conflict according to the dictates of International Law. I will be walking from Perth to Adelaide (2694 km) from April 19 - July 20, 2024.
