Support Carson's Road to recovery & the Pierce Family

Donation protected
Hello Everyone! I am Brooklynne, friend of the Pierce family and Carson's girlfriend, Kendell's, aunt. As many of you know, Carson was in a terrible car accident on Wednesday, September 25th. With the outpouring of love and concern from our community, a number of individuals have asked how they can help. With the permission of Carson's family, we have established this GoFundMe page and are hoping that we can raise enough money to take the burden off of Melissa and Alan, so that they can fully focus on Carson's recovery. All proceeds will go to the family for medical expenses, travel expenses, keeping Carson's finances afloat while he is out of work, and necessities for his long journey ahead.

For those that may not know Carson, he and his family are lifelong residents of the community. Carson is an outstanding young man who is always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He is respectable, responsible, and a hard worker. He graduated in June 2023 from Windsor High and recently began his career as a lineman for Dominion Power. He is an avid outdoorsman who loves all things related to hunting, fishing, and boating. He grew up playing baseball with Windsor Athletic Assocation and continued through JV and Varsity during his high school career. He was one of the original Longhorns with WAA. He enjoys playing golf with his Paw Paw. You will never not see that big, beautiful grin when he is in the company of his family, friends, and his girlfriend Kendell.

Here's what we know about the accident and the extent of his injuries: Melissa received a call at 6:30 am on Wednesday from an individual who had witnessed the accident. Carson's car rolled 2 possibly 3 times, and he was unconscious. He was taken to Norfolk General by ambulance since the Nightingale was unable to answer the call due to the weather conditions.

When they arrived, Carson's parents were informed that he had a severe brain injury and had been intubated. He was moved to the Neuro ICU floor. He is classified as having a severe TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). His skull is fractured in 3 separate places with an area of decompression of about 4mm that thankfully does not require surgery, as long as there continues to be no significant changes. He has a displaced left clavicle fracture, a compression fracture of his T5 vertebrae and a torn ligament in his neck. He also has significant lung bruising and lots of scrapes and abrasions.

He has had a multitude of CT scans which all show some bleeding and swelling in his brain. However, they remain consistent with very little change as well as some slight improvements. Thank God! They have continued to keep Carson sedated and intubated at this time to give his body and brain time to rest and heal.

In the last few days he has shown some good signs; moving his extremities, squeezing their hands and opening his eyes.

The doctors have stated that they are cautiously optimistic that he will make a full recovery, but it is going to take time.

During this very difficult time, we ask that you lift Carson and the entire Pierce family up in prayer. Pray that his CT scans continue to show improvements, pray that the doctors and nurses can keep him comfortable and control his pain, pray that they can find a happy medium for his sedation, and pray that they can wean him off of the ventilator. Pray that he continues to improve with his level of consciousness and begins to recognize everyone by his side and for general continued healing of his other injuries as well as prayers for the entire family.

The family is in awe of the love and concern that has been expressed for Carson and their family during this difficult time. They sincerely appreciate all the prayers, every call, text, and message. It means so much to them to know how deeply Carson is loved. If you are not able to donate monetarily, continued prayers are appreciated. If you want to support the family, but are unable to do so via GoFundMe, please consider a gift card for gas or food. If you are unable to get it to the family, I would be more than willing to meet or pick up and you can direct message me.
