Joanne Mckeown family flood relief
Donation protected
On January 12, 2018, the Pine Kill stream experienced an ice jam where the Route 209 bridge intersects with County Route 163 in Westbrookville, in the town of Mamakating, Sullivan County. The house observed in the pictures was surrounded by ice and fast moving water on all sides due to the ice. The Westbrookville Fire Department successfully rescued the six occupants of the home and are currently in the process of evacuating several surrounding homes. The New York State Department of Transportation is working to remove the ice jam and relieve the flooding.
My name is Ellen Goble. I live in Leesburg Florida.
The six people rescued were my sister's family. My sister Joanne McKeown and Keith Horton had been renting the house for about two years. Unfortunately they had no renters insurance. They were up to their knees in water on the first floor of the home and were rescued by the fire department out of the second floor window via bulldozer. While they are all safe, they are not financially able to deal with this very sudden and major loss. They lost their home and everything on the first floor.
The monies donated would be spent for
1. rent and security deposit to rent another home.
2. Beds
3. Bedroom furniture
4. Living room furniture
5. Dining room furniture
6. Clothing that was lost, along with other personal belongings.
They are pretty much starting over with nothing but televisions and some pots and pans.
Any donations would help mySister and her family out tremendously. They need to find a place as soon as possible. The mon
