Help Maggie Siegel fight Brain Cancer

Two weeks ago my darling Maggie, the sweetest, funniest and most devoted creative person I know was sent to the ER following three weeks of steadily worsening headaches. Neither of us had imagined that it could be brain cancer but there it was in plain sight on the MRI; three tumors. Maggie had surgery on Oct 28th and the amazing neuro-surgeons at Rhode Island hospital (lead by Dr Steven Toms) managed to remove 95% of the tumors. Early pathology seems certain that it is glioblastoma, the most aggressive and difficult to treat of brain tumors.
Maggie is the center of my life, my light, and she brings joy to all around her. We have been together for nearly a decade. She is a skilled and prolific oil painter and a lover of humans and cats. Now that the surgery is successful, we begin the bigger battle. In a few weeks Maggie will begin chemotherapy and radiation as part of an on going plan to keep the cancer at bay.
A few years ago we might be talking about months but thankfully there is good reason to think in years and we hope for it to move on to decades as new advancements are finally showing more hope for this type of cancer. Maggie is young (in her mid 40's) and healthy. She stands a good chance to give this nasty thing a run for its money. We have a long hard fight ahead of us but we are tackling it with positivity and hope!
There is no cure for glioblastoma as of now. Maggie's ongoing survival depends on being able to take advantage of the new treatments and exciting advancements in medicine including new immunotherapies that will be available in the very very near future. We need to gather as many resources as we can so Maggie can continue to have a great quality of life while getting the best and latest treatments available.
The bills will keep coming even with health insurance so we will continue stretching our fundraising goal to help with assisted care when needed, medical bills, and lost wages and to help with our ongoing joint expenses. Her need for resources, love, and the emotional support of her friends and family will be ongoing. We thank you with full hearts for any way you can help. Please share this widely. We love you all and cherish every moment on earth with humans such as yourself! Thank you for joining us to fight for Maggie life!
