Medical Costs

Our beautiful Darcy age 6 years of the Central Coast has unexpectantly experienced three cardiac arrests after running a 50m race at her Kindergarten Sports Carnival last Thursday. Darcy had no underlying cardiac conditions prior to this occurrence.

 

Darcy was running towards her class after completing her race when she collapsed, her mum and two staff members acted quickly to call out that she was unconscious and not breathing, two staff members and two parents (who are nurses) began CPR due to cardiac arrest. She was unconscious for 5 minutes. The ambulance arrived within 11 minutes, where she then had a defibrillator attached and was rushed to Gosford Emergency Department.

 

Darcy experienced an arrest whilst in the ambulance and again at Gosford Hospital, mum was witness to all three cardiac events, which would be every parent's worst nightmare.

 

Darcy was transferred to Westmead Children's Hospital the same day and is under medical investigation to find a cause and a plan for her unknown lifelong heart condition. Without Private Health Care cover, this family is spending their time in Sydney with their daughter making sure they find answers and are being trained for more in-depth CPR training, in case of a future cardiac event. This means they are unable to work during this time.

 

The family owns their own concreting business, which has had to halt work, whilst they seek care for Darcy. If you can spare a donation of any kind, this will help cover medical bills and mortgage repayments. At present, an aunty has stepped in to care for their two younger children at home, having unfortunately lost both grandparents of Darcy prior to her birth.
