Ukrainian Refugees in Moldova
Donation protected
What is transpiring in Ukraine due to the unprovoked Russian aggression is incomprehensible and deeply personal to me. As many of you may know, I am Ukrainian-born and a US citizen. My parents sacrificed everything to escape the grasp of the Soviet Union in the late 80s. I rarely share on social media, but now we are humbly asking for your assistance in support of my extended family, who, until this week, lived in Ukraine. My family members include terrified parents (both young and old) and numerous children (one due in June) who have lost their jobs, homes, and even access to bank accounts. Now, as refugees, some have made their way to Moldova, where the influx has caused a significant rise in costs. While they are “safe,” their fathers and brothers have stayed behind to fight. My cousin, who I grew up with as a brother, has enlisted without any army training or experience and just the urge to protect our homeland. We currently have limited contact with him, and it is difficult to ensure his safety. More extended family members have escaped to small villages, away from cities and the Russian incursion. Even farther into Russia itself, others in my family are protesting this war despite the risk of arrest. With no end in sight, my family and other Ukrainians need all the help they can get. Any and all help, be it donations, thoughts, prayers, voices, shares or even simple keystrokes, is greatly appreciated. A heartfelt thank you to all who have reached out already.
