Charlie Squires, know in Prince Albert as the Jam Man, has been making jams and jellies for several years in order to raise money for various charities. This 89 year old senior has managed to raise over $10,000.00! He lives in a small seniors condominium unit which doesn't allow much space for the effort of making jam but he makes due, with a little extra work.
Since Charlie retired, about 24 years ago, helping others has been a big part of his life. He helps care for his late friends blind wife, and helps many other seniors out with whatever they need. If there is something he can do to help someone he will be there to do it.
On Feb. 6th Charlie came home pretty tired and went straight to his chair and fell asleep. He was awoken by a neighbour wanting to buy some jam and this is when he realized he had been robbed. The money from his jam sales, his change jar and his wallet had been stolen....totalling about $400.00. Charlie was going to donate that money to Telemiracle. He blames himself for not locking the door, but what happened to him was not right! It was a terrible thing for someone to do! With Telemiracle fast approaching it's going to be very difficult for Charlie to make and sell enough jams & jellies to recoup this loss. The money that was stolen from him was meant for a noble cause and we would love to be able to help Charlie make the donation to Telemiracle that he had worked so hard towards. Charlie spends his days helping others, it's time for others to help him! Please watch the link from CTV news about the robbery and see what a great guy Charlie the Jam Man is!
