Ali Needs Our Help

My name is Lisa, and I know Ali through her mom, Freya. Over the years, Ali and I have developed a friendship, and I have had the privilege of getting to know this remarkable young woman. This photo is the last photo Ali shared on Facebook. It's a photo of her family, the people she loves most and would do anything for.

On Sunday, May 22nd, Ali was admitted to ICU after she collapsed and became unresponsive in her home. She needed to be intubated because she couldn't breathe on her own, after only having back surgery a few days prior. The suspected cause is blood clots in both of her lungs.

She is a fighter, and she is going to have a long recovery ahead of her. We do not know how long she will be hospitalized as she is not responsive or breathing on her own yet, but we do know that she won't be able to work for quite some time and will have a lot of medical costs associated with this emergency.

Ali is a kind, generous, fun and loving human being. She is the friend who shows up first, and the family member who takes care of everyone else. It's time for those of us who care about Ali to help her.
