A Call for Help for Philippine Typhoon Victims

Who We Are

We are 1994 alums of St. Agnes' Academy (SAA) in Legazpi City, Albay, Philippines. Our strong foundation and the values of "Ora et Labora" (Pray and Work) have brought us to different parts of the globe but our hearts always bring us home to give back to our local communities.

Raising Funds for Philippine Typhoon Victims

The last quarter of 2020 has been quite a challenge for the Philippines after 5 typhoons ravaged different parts of the country in five weeks. The strongest typhoon recorded in history, Goni (local name Rolly), which was a category 5, left unimaginable damages to life and infrastructure. Yet, Filipinos rose up the morning after the typhoon to help each other out. Filipinos remained thankful for whatever was left after; most importantly, for family.

While we watched from different parts of the world,  the unfolding of these back to back typhoons ravage our dear home country, we put our heads together with one goal in mind: to help out the victims of the typhoon.

Relief efforts came in volumes from various individuals, private and public agencies. Thousands of families received help. However, the victims in the remotest areas of the affected towns weren't receiving any. These are families that lost their homes not only to the typhoons but also lost  their loved ones in the sudden gush of lahar from Mayon Volcano as a result of the heavy rains and wind.

Our 5-Kit Project

Our team immediately recognized this need and we worked with the heads of these local communities to organize a volunteer outreach program to the families in greatest need. The initiative, launched in November 2020, received tremendous participation. We gave out care kits that included a water dispenser, a pail, a dipper(tabo), mosquito net and a blanket. For $10 per kit, we were able to help out over 230 families. Thanks to our generous donors that immediately helped us raise the funds to put the kits together.

Our Food Care Kit Project

After launching our first initiative, 5-Kit Project, we saw firsthand the need to help out more families. As the holidays are nearing, we plan to include food items  to the care kit. These Food Care kits will benefit the affected families that don't have the resources to put a simple meal on the table for the holidays.

Your Help

Your $15 donation, will help us raise funds to include a small bag of rice and canned goods to the care kit for a family affected by the typhoon. However, any amount that you're comfortable with to give, will do. We are collecting donations now in time for distribution to over 300 families just before Christmas.

Your support will mean so much to every family that receives the Food Care Kit. The holidays is about giving. For a very nominal amount, you are able to put a ray of light and hope to a family that lost their home due to the typhoon.

We are forever grateful for you for being part of this amazing journey of giving.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
