Lelon’s Chemo Treatment Fund

Hello, my name is Lelon Windham. I am 63 years old, a husband, a father of five daughters, and grandfather of nine grandchildren. I was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in 2007. I retired from GM in 2012 after 37 years, after becoming too weak to work any longer. I was 57. Though, traditional chemo was recommended, I refused after seeing what it did to some other people. I had researched an oral chemo therapy (a pill). It was dubbed a miracle drug that had came out for people with my condition. It was called Imbruvica (or Ibrutinib). Unfortunately, the FDA hadn’t yet released in in the U.S., at that time. I held on for three years, praying to God for a breakthrough. My prayers were answered. When I was right at my brink, the drug was released, I got it, and it saved my life. I take 3 per day and am now in remission. But, I have to continue to take them to maintain this status. I am on disability, this drug is very expensive ($10k/mo. for 90 pills). Praise be to God, for the past two years, I was funded by PAN, then the Lymphoma & Leukemia Society, along with Humana. This kept my copays very manageable. The funding for my disease has now ran out, along with my medication. Without this funding, I can’t afford my medication and without this chemo therapy, I will most likely die way too soon. Right now, my copay is $621 (for a 30 day supply). This is why I am soliciting the generous help of anyone who will. I am not used to asking for anything, but in this case, I have no choice. I just need to build a kitty to temporarily sustain me through funding lapses like this. All donations will be deeply appreciated.
