**UPDATE: 11/27/13:
We're closing shop! Thanks so much for a hugely successful campaign! We'll be posting our Philippine Red Cross and ShelterBox donation slips as soon as they are processed in the next week! Thanks for all your support--Aimee & Emily**
..................
When our kids, ages 6 and 7 (buddies who live across the street from each other) heard of the devastation from Typhoon Haiyan, they wanted to know how they could help from their little corner of the world here in Western New York.
We told Pascal that we were collecting money for the relief efforts in his grandmother's beloved homeland, and he thought if he enlisted the help of his friend (and artist-extraordinaire), Ellie, they could make some drawings of ocean creatures that are found in the Philippine sea as a way of saying Thank You to their friends who donate money.
*** NEW--UPDATE ***
We are so humbled and grateful to have raised $2635 as of 9am Nov. 18, 2013!! We will, as promised, send this full amount to the Philippine Red Cross. In an effort to support another avenue of recovery efforts in the Philippines, we have now decided to raise funds for ShelterBox. ShelterBox currently has teams working in the country, focusing efforts in three of the badly affected regions, including Tacloban, Cebu and Bohol. ShelterBox distributes these amazing boxes containing a tent that can fit 10 people, water filters, blankets, toolkits, children's comfort kits, stoves, cooking sets, mosquito nets and solar lights. 100% of all the donations sent after 9am 11/18 will be donated to Shelterbox.

If you donate $25 or more, we will send you a notecard set designed by Ellie and Pascal. Each illustrated "seascape" note-card set is tied with festive ribbon and comes with matching 4x6 envelopes. Cards are blank inside so you can personalize a special message for any occasion.
Thank you for extending your hearts and hands across the globe in this time of need.
With gratitude,
Aimee Nezhukumatathil and Emily VanDette

Pascal (age 6) is 1/4-Filipino (his 'Lola' and her family hail from Cape Bolinao, in the northern part of the Philippines) and loves to tap dance and plays in local t-ball and soccer teams. He's been fascinated with ocean animals for as long as he can remember. He was a jellyfish one year for Halloween and an anglerfish another year.
Ellie (age 7) is in second grade and loves to draw and ice skate. She's also a tough cookie who plays in local soccer, basketball, and softball teams. She especially loves being a volunteer at the Lakeshore Humane Society Animal Shelter.

Full transparency: every dollar that is donated after 11/18 will be going to the ShelterBox Disaster Relief for Haiyan recovery. For example, if you give $25, we will give $25 to ShelterBox. Period. Materials used to make, print, and ship the notecards and set up this site have already been donated from Aimee and Emily and will NOT be further deducted from any of the donations to ShelterBox on this site. Check back in December to see our final donation receipts posted on this page!

UPDATE 11/20: Shelterbox is already making a difference for several families in the Philippines. After days and nights out in the open, families affected by the Super Typhoon Haiyan on the remote Bantayan Island of the Philippines can now call ShelterBox tents "home." Check out this video (below) for footage 10 days after the typhoon hit!
