Hi everyone. I have started this page with the hope of raising money for sweet, 3 month old Mason Murkerson. As his honorary Auntie (and very likely future mother-in-law), I feel compelled to tell you his story:
On February 24, 2019 Mason was displaying flu symptoms, vomiting, and having seizures. Immediately, his mother, Amanda Murkerson, called 911. Mason was then transported to the hospital via ambulance. After numerous blood tests, spinal taps, and MRI’s, Mason received a diagnosis: flu, coronavirus, pneumonia, and bacterial meningitis.
Mason was then admitted to the hospital. The game plan was to do an aggressive two weeks of antibiotics, while closely monitoring his progress during his stay. Mason proved himself, once again to be incredibly strong. Numerous blood draws, tests, and needle-sticks later, he continued to keep fighting - all with that adorable, contagious smile.
On March 8th, Mason received another MRI, which showed that he had developed an abscess on his brain, and would need to be transported to Children’s of Alabama- University of Birmingham — 4 hours away from his dad, Chris Murkerson, and big brother, Brayden.
As we anxiously wait to learn the next plan of attack for Mason, I ask that you all pray for this amazing little boy and his incredibly brave, loving family. As you can imagine, this has created not only an emotional strain but financial as well. Amanda and Chris are unable to carry out their normal work routines while Mason fights his illness four hours from home.
Any money we can raise will drastically help, and will go toward medical expenses and bills for Mason and his family during this unimaginably difficult time. Any donation, big or small, will truly make a significant impact for this family.
