Raise money for Steve's surgery

This fundraiser is for dear friends of ours, Steve and Sandy Dornbusch, and their 12-year-old son, Micah. They reluctantly agreed to let me set this up for their family, as they have found themselves in a very bad situation and there is nothing else to do at this point than to lay the request before the Church to ask for help. Steve is a 52-year-old pastor. He has had some major medical bills that have piled up during a period of time where he also hasn’t been able to work at all. Their family is really struggling right now. Sandy works full- time as a gymnastics instructor, but it is not enough to pay the bills due to her wages being garnished for Steve’s outstanding medical bills.

A year ago Steve suffered a head injury from a mirror that fell and knocked him unconscious. Because he had already had two spinal surgeries, this injury exacerbated the existing problem and caused him to have to get a third neck surgery. This procedure alone left them with a $6,400 medical bill that the hospital would not negotiate with them, and is now garnishing 25% of their wages. Furthermore, additional hospital bills in the amount of $2,100 were incurred as a  result of several emergency room visits &  a month-long hospital stay due to the extreme pain Steve was in, and the onset of pneumonia that almost took his life.

Thankfully he is somewhat recovered, but he still hasn’t been able to find work as a pastor, and also can’t work a job that is at all physical or makes him be on his feet all day. The economic situation, and the cost of healthcare has them all to the point of exhaustion. My hope and prayer is that the Body of Christ can step in and help this wonderful family. Steve has always, and even now continues to tirelessly minister to the needs of others. I’ve never seen someone work so hard as him helping others. I know there are many needs and causes, but please consider joining me in helping these kind folks in their time of need. Everyone in the community of Fredericksburg knows that these are top-notch people who have always put others needs ahead of their own.
