My name is Eric Phillips and I am asking for assistance on behalf of, Landon Hazel and his family. I work with Landon Hazel at Charleston County EMS. He is a hard worker with a big heart and has helped countless people with his work as an EMT. He is proud and finds it hard to ask for help, so I started this page to ask on his family’s behalf.
Three months ago his wife, Crystal, was giving birth via cesarean section when she went into cardiac arrest, due to complications. She survived the cardiac arrest, but suffered an anoxic brain injury due to lack of oxygen to the brain.
She was hospitalized for 22 days and spent 2 weeks in rehabilitation. She has lost a large portion of her memories and still struggles to make new memories. Some of those lost memories include the passing of family and friends and has to experience the loss as if it’s the first time when she wants to talk to them.
Crystal, was a hard worker and due to the recent events is no longer able to work. Landon has been working every bit of overtime available in order to make ends meet. Because of this and the nature of our work. He is away from home for long periods of time and is unable to be there personally for his family. He does this selflessly for his family to stay afloat financially. Never one to be held down, Landon still greets everyone with a warm smile. He finds strength in his faith to keep going, despite his family’s struggles.
It goes without saying that the medical bills are astronomical and to make things harder. Half of their household income is no longer available. If you can donate anything, no amount is too small, please do. Every little bit helps Landon take some of the weight of the world off his shoulders so he can be home more, to support his young and beautiful family. Thank you.
