Kyan Kicks Cancer
Donation protected
On behalf of my daughter, Tessica, mother of Kyan Paul:
Hi, my name is Tess Duenas and this is my son, Kyan Paul. Kyan is 13 years old and was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in his right femur on August 21, 2023. We are from the island of Guam where medical attention is not available for pediatric oncology. Therefore, we were advised to seek further evaluation and medical treatment off-island. Within three weeks of his diagnosis, my son and I packed our bags and made our way to the Children's Hospital in Los Angeles, California.
Within the first week after landing in LA, Kyan underwent a series of testing including scans and a biopsy. All of which confirmed the cancer is high-grade and localized. He will remain at CHLA for his treatment plan of 29-32 weeks while undergoing chemotherapy. Surgery will take place in November 2023 to remove his femur and replace it with a titanium implant. More chemo will follow.
It's been quite a journey so far and I am amazed with the care team that Kyan has been blessed with. There was no time wasted in the process of jumpstarting his treatment. I believe we made the right choice to come here.
I am fundraising for the medical expenses that Kyan will incur for his treatment and for financial support to help with day-to-day necessities. Any support you can provide is greatly appreciated.
