Support Tobi’s Journey to Recovery

On January 16th, Tobias Rollwagen (Tobi)—a 36-year-old firefighter from Cologne, Germany and newly qualified paramedic—was celebrating his first real vacation in four years in Florida. After three years of grueling training, this trip marked a well-deserved break.

But while visiting the Key West Butterfly Conservatory with his girlfriend, Tobi’s life took an unimaginable turn. Without warning, he collapsed from a “sudden death event.” due to a deadly arrthymia and Tobi’s heart stopped.

It became rapidly clear, Tobi was loosing his life, a bystander began chest compressions, as Key West paramedics arrived quickly, restarting his heart and stabilizing him. In critical condition, with a ventilator keeping him alive, Tobi was airlifted to Miami’s Kendall Regional Medical Center's ICU.

For days, it was uncertain of Tobi would survive. His family and girlfriend stood by his side, as Tobi fought for his life.

Through his incredible resilience and the tireless care of medical professionals, Tobi has defied the odds. He is now off the ventilator but still in serious condition.

This devastating incident will completely change Tobis life and recovery will be a long and challenging journey, involving medical expenses, rehabilitation, and unforeseen costs.
