Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers. . . As some of you may already be aware, and to those of you who aren’t, our Father Bill (and beloved uncle, and Grandpa), has been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Failure (Due to complications from Type 1 Diabetes), a life changing disease which now requires him to be on daily dialysis. While our Dad waits for the possibility of a kidney transplant from a potential donor (Type O blood is a required match), in the interim, he will be undergoing a lot of out-of-town medical tests and appointments, necessary to help keep his current kidneys functioning. As some of these appointments and treatments will incur a lot of upfront and future out-of-pocket expenses not covered under his private or provincial plans, he also does not quality for long-term, or short-term disability due to being over the age of 65. We can only imagine the added stress and duress that Bill and Janice (Mom and Dad) are currently experiencing as they navigate their way through this entire process. In addition to the above, their vehicle was just recently written off, leaving them with no easy access to be able to attend my Dad’s medical appointments. Therefore, my cousin Nicole, Ryan and I (Devon) have decided to start a Go-Fund-Me page as a means to help alleviate some of the financial burden and stress my parent’s are currently facing.
