"It’s Zeeland... And women don’t accept it and aren’t fine with it. But our police wont do rape kits. Wont listen to complaints of domestic assault. Offer no assistance. Women aren’t fine, it’s just that nobody will listen unless a man is talking." - A young woman from Zeeland who would prefer to remain anonymous for obvious reasons.
Our purpose is to secure legal representation to either strike down the ordinance as it is unconstitutional, or amend the ordinance and remove the addition of "sex object", women (thereby allowingand men!) to have the freedom of choice,f without fear of shame or control.
Before anyone gets the wrong idea, on my end I'm a Conservative, upper case C. And if you are this should make you even more angry than it does me. Why? Because it makes us all look bad. It makes us look like a bad stereotype.
Listen, I have never in my entire life witnessed a government spring to action as fast as when I offered women the opportunity to publicly purchase adult toys. Within 24 hours of opening my doors the Chief of Police of the City of Zeeland showed up and informed me that not only may I not sell sex objects to women (in *any* capacity, of any shape or type)... but that I couldn't even *give* them to women. That's how hard they came down.
The name of my business is Grimlock's Emporium for the Misbehaved Lady and it's purpose is to promote the self expression of women in an ultra conservative area. Not simply conservative... but the kind of ultra-conservative, repressive environment we all dread. The kind where the CHIEF OF POLICE shows up and demands I take down candles because they are classified as sex objects.
Had I opened up a gun store, or a Machete Emprorium for the Misbehaved Four Year Old they wouldn't have thought twice but sell adult toys to adult women and our government loses its mind.
They created a zone where it would be virtually impossible to sell these things legally, but tolerate it when women are forced to sell them under the table as though women's sexuality was something to be ashamed of. Something to be controlled. Something to be owned.
I'm asking for your help to take a stand. To say that this kind of control is unacceptable.
