West Highland Way

Hi,

Last year after our holidays in Scotland we decided to walk the West Highland Way (WHW).

During our visits we very lucky to walk two short & different parts of the trail e.g. Conic Hill and it was there when we realised that this trail need a huge maintenance and as hikers of course our support for safe travels & a safe hike.

From the WHW Team:

The West Highland Way (WHW) is the most established and best-loved of Scotland’s long distance walking routes, officially opened on 6 October 1980.

The 96 mile route stretches from Scotland’s largest city to its highest mountain via its largest loch, passing through some of the country’s most spectacular scenery.

The WHW is managed by Highland, Stirling, Argyll & Bute and East Dunbartonshire Councils plus Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, which is the group’s lead body.

The Management Group invests significant time and resources each year to maintaining the WHW as a quality walk.

With your help, we can ensure that the WHW can continue to be enjoyed by future generations.

Thousands of feet walking this special route each year - plus the Scottish weather! - means that we need to carry out regular maintenance and repairs on the path,

bridges and waymarkers. For example, replacing one footbridge could cost over £20,000.

The landscapes and nature are also a large part of what makes the trail so special but the twin global climate and nature crises mean that these need extra protection.
