Connie's Story
Donation protected
It all started back right around June of 2014. Connie started to become sick with what she thought was just a cold. It was a couple of months later and she just couldn't seem to shake this nasty cold that seemed to be getting worse and worse. She held out as long as she could before finally going to the doctor in November 2014. From there she was told that she had pneumonia, was given some antibiotics and sent home. Well a month later Connie still seemed to have "pneumonia". She knew something didn't seem right and went back to the hospital. The doctors started to run more tests and that's when they discovered the mass on her lung. At first they were uncertain of what this could be. They ran some more tests and brought up the possibility of cancer. Cancer?! There's no way she could have cancer!
A couple of days later Connie gets the results back and was told she was cancer FREE! We all breathed a sigh of relief! The doctors wanted to get a second opinion but told her not to worry. So after listening to the doctors we didn't think much of it... The results come back from the second opinion and IT'S CANCER! Small Cell Carcinoma is what she's told she has. With this type of cancer she would never be put in remission! But how can it be cancer when she was just told she was cancer free just days before. Our world was turned upside down!
Now begins the journey of treatment. Connie's doctors wanted to start treatment right away! So in January of this year she started her first round of the 6 rounds of chemotherapy. Half way through the whole 6 treatments she was told that the mass is shrinking and the chemo treatments are working!! Yay! She's one tough lady and we knew she would get through this! In June Connie would have her last treatment of chemo. Her doctors wanted to see how her cancer reacted after the process since this would be something she would never be cured of.
About three months ago Connie received some of the worst news she thought she could receive. The cancer had spread to her brain! Right away she started radiation. Connie put all the strength she had in her to fight this cancer. Connie put up a very strong fight, and wanted to win this relentless battle with cancer.
Unfortunately, Connie's fight ended a little after 10:00 A.M this morning on October 25, 2015. This message was originally intended to inform you of her state not to inform you of her passing! As I was writing this we found out the heartbreaking news. With that being said, Connie did not have any life insurance and as you all know burial expenses can be costly. I am kindly asking that if you are able to please help out her son, Billy, and daughter, Kelly, with the expenses to give their beloved mother the proper services she deserves. No donation is too small and anything will help them in this time of need. All dontations will go towards funeral services. I am asking asking that you keep her children, family and friends in your thoughts and prayers as they try to get through this very tough and emotional time.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Liz
