Loving Donna to Wholeness

INTRODUCTION

On October 16, 2013, Donna received the news that after 13 years in remission, her breast cancer had returned. What this means for Donna this time around is a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery, requiring 3-6 months to complete. Approximately 2+months of that time she will be required to be off from her work as a real estate broker in order to recover and heal. Donna is also a single mother to her two beautiful children, Colleen and Brian, as well as a beloved member of her community, serving as a spiritual counselor who has taken a stand and commitment for Love.







WHAT WE NEED AND WHAT YOU GET

Those that know and love Donna already know what an incredibly generous spirit she is and how central and active she is in her community. She is a true gift to her world and an amazing woman who is so authentically filled with love and joy when giving of herself and to others. What you may or may not also know is that Donna works as a real estate broker, which means that during her necessary 2+ months off from work for healing and recovery, she won't be receiving any income. In addition, her breast cancer diagnosis has come towards the end of this fiscal calendar year, and as a result her required medical procedures will be taking place in both 2013 and 2014. What this specific timing means for Donna is that even with her health insurance that she pays for, her out-of-pocket medical expenses will be doubled (to include both fiscal years),totaling $25,000+.

This is where you can come in! A mind at peace is a mind that can can be focused on healing and caring for the body. Cancer is more than enough on its own to face without adding the very big reality of the huge medical bills to come. What we want for Donna is to be able to give all of her thoughts and energy over to her health and well being during her medical procedures and recovery times. What we hope is to be able to give that to her by raising $25,000 to cover her medical expenses. Any additional amount raised beyond the $25,000 will go towards Donna's living expenses during the 2+ months that she will be unable to work.

"Please know that I have experienced so many miracles since October 16, the day of my mammogram/ultra sound and biopsy. I have been United with Divine Love Itself VERY CLEARLY at least twice, and many more times I was generally aware of the Presence of Divine Love. I have been Loved on and Supported by pretty much everyone I know and some I don't including the staff at Trader Joe's, who gave me flowers when they heard I had recently been diagnosed with cancer. I have not gone to a doctor's appointment alone. Even though I do not want to give up the breast I was born with, this experience has been SO AMAZING, I wouldn't want to give it up either. The Life we live can be a dichotomy of the heart.

One innocent mammogram day
led to a very scary time for me
Breast cancer they said
It felt like bad news,
Left and right and center

We survived that time, that scare
With only a dent to show
On the left breast
The right remained in tact
Sigh...

I learned some lessons about life
About stress, about food, and
Most importantly
About what is important
In my life

Years went by
5, 7, 10, and 12
We felt safe.
Been there, done that
And don’t want the T shirt

It happened the same as before...
One innocent mammogram day
An ultra sound
A Biopsy
You have cancer, again.

Devastated I am, devastated
This time you will have to have
A mastectomy.
I can’t breathe.
Why?

Immediately, the doctors visits
Appointment after appointment
Hours of listening and learning
Hearing over and over again,
Mastectomy, Mastectomy, MASTECTOMY

Dear God, don’t cut her off
I don’t want to be lop sided
I love my left breast
PLEASE, isn’t there anything I CAN DO?

Green Tea, no meat, no sugar, no grains
Juicing every vegetable in sight
Eat fish, avocados, olives and mushrooms
Melatonin, Curamin, Vitamin C, and still
Mastectomy, Mastectomy, MASTECTOMY

So I visit the plastic surgeon
What are my options, Sir?
These are my BREASTS
We are talking about
Please...

Okay, I am warming up
to the idea of an “upgrade”
I lose the real one completely
But she will become
The latest new model.

This journey has not been all “bad”
I decided to take a stand for Love
The Love I have always been
But now, Love is me
In a VERY BIG way

Miracles abound from the very first day
The Love I am is
Reflected back to me
In a variety of ways
Everywhere I go

And so now I see
The ultimate Gift.
