Connor Blaney's Superhero Fund

Thank you to everyone who helped us raise just over $1,500 in less than a week! We are leaving the fund open until December 1st, with the new goal of raising $5,000! Go Team Connor!
I’d like to take a minute to share with you the story of a superhero. Now this hero cannot fly, he cannot shoot webs from his hands, and he cannot lift cars; no, this superhero has abilities that are much greater. This superhero has spent the past few months fighting the toughest battle of all, while inspiring hundreds of people along the way.
The name of this superhero is Connor Blaney; a 7-year old from Abington, MA where he lives with his parents, Paul and Christy, and his younger brother, Tyler. This past summer, Connor was diagnosed with Wilm’s tumors (a form of pediatric cancer) in not one, but both of his kidneys. He has since conquered multiple rounds of chemo and treatments, all while keeping a smile on his face.
Connor was fighting cancer before he had lost his first tooth (I don’t think you can say the same for Superman or Batman). A superhero is defined as “a benevolent fictional character with superhuman powers.” With the circumstances this young man has faced, and the manner in which he has been fighting this battle, Connor is a superhero; nothing fictional about it.
However, he cannot fight this battle without the help of us. Connor’s parents have taken time off work and the treatments he is undergoing are not by any means cheap. Donations will go directly to the Blaney family to help cover for his medical expenses, so Connor can continue to kick cancer’s butt!
The brothers of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity here at UMass Amherst are behind Connor during this fight. The first 100 people to donate at least $15 will receive an Alpha Sig Superhero Calendar for the year 2016, featuring everyone’s favorite characters.
