ICU For Shuswap Paws @beescats

Every life matters.
When we rescue pregnant cats, they’re often not in the best of health, and that puts their kittens at risk. We recently rescued Sambucca, a kitten herself, who not only was pregnant but also had contracted a bad respiratory virus. All but one of her kittens were born breach and underweight. Sambucca was too ill to nurse them—because her nasal passages were stuffed up, she couldn’t smell them, and her mothering instincts didn’t kick in.
So we cut the umbilical cords, tube fed, washed and “pottied” them around the clock. Soon they contracted the same respiratory infection. We tried to steam them with showers and humidifiers, but even with round-the-clock care, only one of the original five survived. He himself is weak.
High-risk neonatal kittens like Sambucca’s need a very warm, high-oxygen (and sometimes high-humidity) environment in order to have a chance at survival. LifelinePetSupplies ICU incubator. The nearest clinic that has one is a two and a half hour drive, and they charge $200/hour, when kittens often need to be in there for hours or days. If we can purchase one of these incubators for our own use, we can save more kittens. But the cost is prohibitive. Will you help us save more kittens?
Shuswap Paws Rescue will use all the funds donated to purchase the ICU unit.
