Help me get through November.

My name is Chris Brooker and I'm a self-employed comedian. In October my father became seriously and suddenly ill. He passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Friday 15th November.

One benefit of being self employed is that I've been able to leave my home in Manchester and travel to Somerset to support my parents. A disadvantage is that this means I've had to cancel pretty much all my November work and I'm not in a position to take any more work that comes in.

As such after a great deal of internal discussion I've been encouraged to do something that I'm terrible at. Ask for help.

I'm fortunate enough that I'm not in danger of starving or losing my home. It is, however, going to make a colossal hole in my finances. With winter coming and a typically quiet January in store this could well have a major impact down the road.

As such I'm seeing if I can raise enough money to cover the equivalent of a weekend of work after expenses. This would be enough to cover my basic bills and expenses for the month. It would make a huge difference in terms of seeing me through a stressful and uncertain time, not least because the costs of hospital parking, food etc are starting to add up.
