Shannon Darling Recovery Fund

We hear and see terrible stories in the news everyday and pray everyone is okay. You hope this never happens to you or someone you love. Then one day the phone rings and.... It's that call!
On October 9, 2018, Shannon was involved in an unfortunate and life-changing workplace accident. While at the Olympic Oval in Calgary, she and her crew were removing an 8,000 lb heat exchange unit when it fell off it's supports and pinned Shannon underneath, crushing most of her lower body. It took a forklift to raise the unit off of her. Doctors said Shannon is lucky to be alive, as just a few inches higher could have crushed major organs and the result could have been much worse! Shannon suffered 7 fractured vertebrae, a shattered pelvis , a broken pubic bone, major spiral fractures in her lower leg, a broken ankle, lacerations to her liver, and 5 broken ribs. After an extensive 8.5 hr surgery , Shannon is now starting her long road to recovery.
Due to the nature of her injuries, Shannon will be in the hospital for many months with rehabilitation & a lengthy recovery to regain basic functions such as moving, walking, sitting, etc. Shannon more than likely will not be able to return to her normal duties of working in the trades industry.
Everyone who knows Shannon has been affected by this, and due to the overwhelming response from all of you, I have decided to start a Go Fund Me Account. There will be countless days of unrecoverable expenses along the way as she heals. I feel that this would be a way of helping her out. No matter how big or how small it all adds up! ..... Thank you!
I gotta say that my sister is one tough cookie!! Anyone who sees or meets Shannon would have to admire her courage and positive attitude throughout this terrible ordeal.
Thank you to ALL for your love and support. We greatly appreciate and thank everybody that has sent their well wishes, and are keeping Shannon in their thoughts and prayers.
Thank you so very much.
Sincerely from Shannon's sister (and best friend);
Cheryl.
