Thank you for taking a moment to read this.
7 years ago Joshua at the age of 10 years old ,was diagnosed with a rare Condition called hyper IGE syndrome (or sometimes called Jobs syndrome).
This condition primarily affects Joshua’s lungs, getting repeated life threatening lung infections and abscesses and also as a result has quite severe bronchiectasis.
While ongoing treatment and medication may help control his condition his only realistic chance of having a normal life, away from hospital admissions, mixture of drugs and physio.
There have been only very few patients with hyper IGE syndrome offered a stem cell transplant but he has been very lucky to have been offered one.
To enable this to happen Josh and his mum, Esther, had to leave his younger brother, Reuben and partner Matt to move 200 miles away from their home in Leicestershire and rent accommodation in the North East.
The transplant took place last September but poor Josh has had several set backs and complications since the transplant and is currently left with severe nerve damage in his legs and feet and fingers and now unable to walk unaided. Josh will be also be shortly be having an operation to have his kidney removed too due to a suspected fungal infection in his Kidney which has irreparably damaged it. He has been in hospital a few weeks short of a year.
This has been and continues to be a huge strain emotionally, physically and financially on all of the family. Esther and Matt are funding it entirely themselves and therefore it would be amazing to help relieve some of the financial burden (with costs currently already over £30,000). The money raised will help fund private physio for josh for when he has recovered from the kidney removal (as physio offered is vastly less when an outpatient and he needs as much as possible for the best chance of his legs ever recovering and him learning to walk again).
We as friends and family all feel helpless and wish we could do more to help josh. So please help us raise awareness and funds as big or small to help this lovely family. ❤️
Thank you so much for any support .It really does mean the world.
