Wendy's fight against cancer

Donation protected
Dear friends,

As some of you may already know, our beautiful, sweet Wendy was diagnosed with a very aggressive & difficult to treat form of breast cancer in September 2021.

To obtain the best possible outcome, Chemotherapy was recommended & implemented immediately. Wendy bravely & quietly endured three months of chemotherapy. Unfortunately, chemotherapy had little to no effect on her rapidly growing tumor. Wendy was admitted for an emergency mastectomy in January 2022, followed by 25 treatments of radiation & 8 rounds of oral chemotherapy to prevent a reoccurrence.

Wendy & her family were looking forward to putting cancer life behind them when on August 16, 2022, Wendy’s oncologist confirmed that cancer had spread to her liver, adrenal glands, lungs & lymph nodes (Stage 4). Chemotherapy was scheduled to begin again the next day.

Wendy has worked selflessly as a nurse within our community for over 25 years. Offering comfort & care to those most vulnerable. Wholeheartedly giving so much of herself to her community, family & friends. Many suffering from this very same disease. She has been a loving wife to Gary for 18 years, an incredible mother to their seven-year-old son, Zachary, a treasured daughter, daughter-in-law, sister, aunt, cousin, best friend to countless & the absolute nucleus in innumerable lives & social circles.

Our Wendy is a fighter, and we want to ensure she has every resource and opportunity to help her in this fight. She’s one tough girl, and with all the right treatments, she will come through this even stronger. Undoubtedly, the cost of continuing this aggressive fight against the progression of this disease is challenging & it’s the last thing they should have to worry about.

Gary & Wendy are the last to ever ask for help, especially financially. We hope your generous contributions will lighten their burdens, so Wendy can focus on positive thoughts, spend quality time with her family and only concentrate on the end goal…a cancer-free Wendy.

Thank you,
Natasha, Angela & Michelle

Triple-negative breast cancer is that which tests negative for three receptors: estrogen, progesterone, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). It is also the least common form of breast cancer & the hardest to treat.

28,600 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. This represents 25% of all new cancer cases in women in 2022.
