Jamie's Skull Surgery
Donation protected
When I had my stroke 5 years ago, the neurosurgeon had to take out a large piece of my skull on the top of my head in order to give my brain room to swell. That piece of bone was sitting around too long for the surgeon to be able to return the original"bone flap" back in my head without a risk of infection. This left the surgeon little choice other than to create a fake/synthetic bone flap to put back into my head after all of the swelling had subsided (to be implanted later during a separate surgery).

Now, 5 years later, my bone flap is shifting out of its correct position so severely that I have a large piece of the bone protruding from my head and at risk of popping through my scalp. The bone is now at a high risk of injury and/or infection, jeopardizing the integrity of my scalp. Because of this, my neurosurgeon needs to perform another surgery ASAP.
So, once again I will be having surgery to remove the current bone flap and replace it with a 2nd synthetic bone flap. We will have to incur the cost of the flap itself, surgery, hospital stay, anesthesia, medications, etc. etc. etc.
With two young daughters, remaining medical bills from the initial stroke, and not being able to work; our family is really struggling and we realize that we need help.
Thank you for anything you can give and/or helping to share this with others! Words cannot express our gratitude! ♡ ♡ ♡
More than anything, we just want closure to this whole series of events these last few years.

Wishing you and your family health and happiness. XO
